Swimming: Cardio That Is Easy On Your Joints
If you love to get a good cardio workout, but you need to give you knees a break from running, try swimming. Swimming is a great workout, that involved your entire body. Freestyle laps work your arms and shoulders, abs and back, and legs. Start out slow, swim at a moderate pace for as long as you can. When you feel tired, grab a kickboard and keep going. You can also give your legs a break, by putting a little buoy between your legs, and only paddling with your arms. This is called “pulling”. You don’t need to join a gym, most towns have a community pool that you can use, and they’re usually indoors or heated.
